Olive trees in terracotta

A moment of stillness.
Julio paints not just olive trees, but the sensation of looking at them — quietly, endlessly, as if they held answers without speaking.
The terracotta grounds the piece in warmth and memory, while the trees become vessels of calm, reflection, and the quiet passage of time.
This is not just what he saw, but what he felt while watching them — ideas drifting in and out like wind through branches.

We often think of escape as leaving — but here, escape is a return.
A return to the parts of us we silence.
The masks we wear are not lies — they’re tools, temporary skins we need to survive what lives inside us.
In this piece, Julio confronts inner fragmentation, using layered textures to represent identities colliding, coexisting, and eventually, guiding each other through the dark.

Julio Castillo Donato transforms silence into vibrant expressions, capturing the essence of solitude and healing through his unique artistic vision.

"There are colors we only see when our eyes are closed.
They are not meant to be seen — they are meant to be felt."
